Falling into Fall
Fall has arrived, bearing gifts of colorful trees and cool nights, a fresh new school year, and inspiration for new knitting projects...
I won seven skeins of this yarn in a silent auction at the Silver Falls Knitting Retreat. Of all the yarn, this was the stuff I wanted most... the perfect color, and so many possibilities for garments to make! I was nearly caught in the indecision trap, where a yarn is doomed to perpetual stash-hood because I can't decide what to use it for, but in the end I decided to go with a suggestion from my mom. I am using the same pattern I used for my blue cardi, but with several modifications...
The yarn is much smaller, so I adapted the pattern to match my gauge. I also replaced the seed stitch borders with a set of cables down the front... and rather than using increases and decreases for waist shaping, I added another cable that gradually becomes more twisted at the waist and provides structure as well as an hourglass fit.
So far I'm very pleased with the way it is turning out, and surprised at how much fabric I can knit on size 2 needles in only five days!
